Implants

Dental implants can be the most natural looking and feeling replacements for lost or damaged teeth.

Implants can provide realistic replacements for one or more of your teeth. The dental implant will be fixed permanently in place so that it feels just like a real tooth. You’ll be able to smile, talk and eat with confidence, so this can be a much more convenient option than dentures.

What Are Tooth Implants?

Dental implants are replacement teeth that can be permanently fixed into your jaw. The visible part of the implant looks just like a normal tooth. It will be matched to you and your other teeth to achieve the most natural-looking results. The lower part of the implant is a metal post or root that will be fixed into your jaw. You won’t be able to see this as it will be hidden under the gum.

What to Expect When You Get Tooth Implants

You will need to have one or more surgical procedures to fit the implants into your jaw. The metal implants will be fitted first. Once these are in place, the bone will fuse to the metal root so that it is very secure. We will fit the artificial teeth over the implants. The procedure will be tailored to your jaw to achieve the most stable and comfortable results.

We can fit a single implant or as many teeth as you need. You don’t always need to have a separate metal implant for every tooth that is being replaced as one implant can support several tooth replacements. It is even possible to have a full set of tooth implants as an alternative to dentures.

Our Approach to Dental Implants

Dental implants can be a great option when you need to replace one or more of your teeth. However, they aren’t right for everyone. We will need to assess your gums and jaw to ensure that oral implants can be safely fitted. We’ll also discuss the other options with you. You may decide that having a crown, bridge or dentures fitted is a better choice.

We only recommend tooth replacements such as oral implants when they are necessary. If we can save your tooth, then we will always suggest a treatment that can do so. However, if the tooth is missing or impossible to save, we’ll help you to choose the right kind of replacement.

Restoring missing or damaged teeth is important as it can prevent further problems such as bite issues and movement in the surrounding teeth. It can also give you the confidence to smile freely and enjoy all of your favourite foods.

Should You Get Dental Implants?

The best option for tooth replacement will depend on your needs and preferences.

Dental implants:

  • Replace one or more teeth that are missing, damaged or badly decayed
  • Alternative to crowns, bridges or dentures
  • Most natural feeling dental replacement with no risk of slippage and no need to remove for cleaning
  • Require healthy gums and bone structure to support the implant
